The mission of the Foundation is to support excellence in care at The Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre. This objective is attained by contributing to the advancement of teaching and research, and by purchasing cutting-edge medical equipment.

At the beginning of the 20th century, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Alexander Mackenzie Forbes, moved to see sick children begging in the streets of Montreal, mobilized a group of physicians and citizens to found a small hospital dedicated to young people suffering from tuberculosis, congenital defects and complications from acute illnesses. It is thanks to the generosity of the Montreal community that he was able to found The Children’s.
