past projects

Over the years, many sectors and services at the Children’s have been renovated or endowed with new equipment thanks to the support of the Foundation’s donors.

The angiopathy room

Inside the angiopathy and high-technology cardiac catheterization room, where children suffering from cardiac problems and congenital heart defects are diagnosed and treated, sits equipment that the Hospital is especially proud of. The results of extremely precise tests analyzed in this room can be transmitted to treating physicians using a highly secure Internet connection, which greatly accelerates treatment and follow-up.

Medical Imagery

Medical Imagery services also received its share of new equipment. Its gamma camera with multiple detectors is used mainly to complete other investigative devices, such as ultrasound, computed tomogram and medical resonance imaging. This cutting-edge equipment is used to investigate respiratory, urinary, digestive, cardiovascular and neurological problems, as well as certain types of cancer. Even though the installation of this camera was difficult, it was worth the trouble: about one thousand patients each year will benefit from it.

Trauma room

With its many improvements, the trauma and resuscitation room has many advantages that allow intervention in cases of complex pediatric diseases, or to treat children who have suffered serious injuries resulting from an accident. Thanks to equipment available to our team, children suffering from shock, severe asthma, head trauma, heart failure, potentially dangerous infections or poisoning can receive the best care in exceptionally short time.

Sarah’s Floor

The renovation of Sarah’s Floor allowed us to create a more positive healing environment, thanks to an ultramodern temperature regulation and air filtering system, as well as updating rooms so they are more comfortable for the children and their families. A judicious design also allowed us to improve staff workspace. Entirely financed by private funds, this $1.8 million project is an example of revitalization and most of all, solidarity.

The Parc-en-Ciel

Because play is an integral part of a child’s life, and having fun helps healing, the Wienstein & Gavino’s Charitable Fund team as allowed the Children’s to re-open the Parc-en-Ciel, an outdoor playground for children of all ages. Thank you to our donors for helping pave the way towards healing through play for the kids at the Children’s.
