On December 23, our young patients received a surprise visit from members of the internationally acclaimed Montreal rock group Simple Plan. Bandmates Chuck Comeau and Sébastien Lefebvre gave autographs and copies of their latest CD to star-struck fans.
It was not the band's first visit to The Children's but it was their first time seeing a special project close to their hearts. The Simple Plan Foundation has equipped a media room for patients hospitalized on The Children's psychiatric unit. National Bank is giving $8 million to the Joint Corporate Campaign of the Fondation du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and the McGill University Health Centre Foundation (MUHC). The donation will support the Montreal projects’ goals of enhancing academic medicine, including research. Both centres will be able to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and create ultramodern facilities whose spaces will be able to be reconfigured as needs change, thereby supporting consistent quality care.

Rio Tinto Alcan will donate $10 million to the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) and McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) towards their Joint Corporate Campaign in support of the construction of their new hospitals.

Last October, CIBC announced a $500,000 investment in support of The Best Care for Children Campaign. These funds will be allocated to pediatric cancer care at the future Children's. CIBC made this generous commitment while also announcing a $1 million contribution towards the MUHC's future adult cancer centre, also to be built on the Glen Campus.
